Make your Coleman Camping Stoves last even longer with some quick tips on cleaning and caring for it - the stove will give even greater years of service if you read our handy guide below.
- A cleaner Coleman camping stove looks so much better than a greasy, grubby dirty one!
- Thorough cleans will always give you far better fuel efficiency and flame control
- Cleaning minimises rust or corrosion.
- Sounds great common sense but you really should clean your camp stove whenever it is dirty or it suffers a boil-over.
- If and when water or food ever overflows the pan onto the burner make sure its cleaned as this can cause a build up in the burner.
- Before you put away your Coleman camping stove at the end of camping season (and forget about it till next year) make sure its cleaned and dry!
- For general cleaning of your stove a little dishwashing liquid and warm water is more than enough to get your stove clean.
- If there has been a boil-over, remove the screw from the centre of every burner, lift off the burner rings and check the manifold for a build up of food debris or dried liquid. If there is a build-up, simply clean it with soap and warm water then rinse and dry thoroughly.
- If there is a large amount of grease and dirt build-up inside the stove case, on the burner(s) or across the grill, then take the stove to a car wash and use a high-pressure hose on it - take care, a high pressure hose can strip paint from the stove (usually when the paint has started to peel away due to a lack of cleaning or care). Don't use any type of engine or over cleaner because this can break down the paint in the stove causing it to peel away.
- Once you have cleaned your Coleman stove we suggest you turn it upside down and drain away all excess water - doing this prevents rust build up inside the stoves manifold so preventing a build up that prevents clean flow of fuel.
- Check the stove is thoroughly dry before you store your stove and place it into a plastic bag and seal it to prevent unwanted guests - spiders and insects!
- If you have a liquid fuel stove ideally try to transfer as much fuel as possible back into the fuel can. If this is not possible then burn off the fuel inside the stove (not really recommend as it's wasteful) - you want to have no fuel in the tank so as to prevent a build-up of lacquer inside the fuel tube.
- At the beginning of the camping season when you take out your stove, don't forget to lightly oil the pump cup on the tank's pump plunger. This ensures the pump will work smoothly.
